Germany to facilitate delivery of 5 Patriot systems to Ukraine ASAP - Pistorius

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, who is co-chairing the 29th meeting of the Contact Group on Defense Issues for Ukraine (in the Ramstein format) with his British counterpart John Healy, confirmed continued military support for Ukraine, in particular with regard to stepping up efforts to strengthen air defense.

"Germany will provide additional air defense systems and much-needed ammunition. In addition, I agree with Pete Hegseth, whom I met during my trip to Washington last week, that Germany will facilitate the delivery of five urgently needed Patriot systems as soon as possible. How we can achieve this, we will agree in close cooperation and in a spirit of mutual trust between partners in the coming days," he said, opening the Ramstein format meeting.

Pistorius noted that Germany and its partners will also contribute to these efforts with resources that Berlin is mobilizing as part of the air defense reinforcement efforts. The Minister thanked Belgium, Denmark, Sweden and Norway for their significant contribution to this.

"Only a few weeks after the relaunch of the initiative, there are already signs that we can significantly surpass the successes of last year," he said.
