Hackers completely destroy Russian Aeroflot flight database

Hacker groups Silent Crow and Belarusian Cyber Guerrillas attacked the servers of the Russian airline Aeroflot, as a result of which they copied and destroyed their databases, including the personal data of all passengers.

"We announce the successful completion of a long and large-scale operation, as a result of which the internal IT infrastructure of Aeroflot - Russian Airlines was completely compromised and destroyed... The personal data of all Russians who have ever flown with Aeroflot have now also set off on a journey - however, without luggage and one-way," the Silent Crow Telegram channel reported.

The group claims that they managed to obtain and download a complete set of flight history databases, compromise all critical corporate systems, gain control over the personal computers of employees, including senior management, as well as copy data from listening servers, including audio recordings of telephone conversations and intercepted communications, and extract data from personnel surveillance and control systems.

"The amount of information obtained: 12TB of databases, 8TB of files from Windows Share, 2TB of corporate email. All of these resources are now inaccessible or destroyed, and restoration will require, perhaps, tens of millions of dollars. The losses are strategic," the message says.

"Our operation is a direct message... to all employees of the repressive apparatus: your digital security is worthless, and you yourself have long been under surveillance. The publication of part of the obtained data will begin in the near future. We did not just destroy the infrastructure - we left a trace. Glory to Ukraine! Long live Belarus!" the hacker group added.

On Monday morning, Aeroflot's Telegram channel reported that there was a failure in the airline's information systems, in connection with which "a forced adjustment to the flight schedule is expected, in particular by postponement and cancellation."

Later, information appeared about the cancellation of about 50 domestic flights from Moscow to various cities of the Russian Federation.
