Capital's video surveillance systems purchased at over UAH 2.1 million loss – Kyiv police

Law enforcement officers have reported a suspicion to an official of a Kyiv municipal enterprise, whose negligence led to the purchase of video surveillance systems for the capital at a loss of over UAH 2.1 million, Kyiv police have said.

"A pre-trial investigation has established that the deputy general director of the KP "Informatika" during the purchase of equipment necessary for the development of the capital's video surveillance system did not ensure verification of market prices for the relevant goods and did not conduct a proper analysis," the Kyiv police said on Telegram on Monday.

According to the report, as a result, the expected cost of the equipment was artificially inflated, and the contract with the supplier was concluded on terms that were unfavorable for the city.

"According to the conclusions of the examinations, such actions caused losses to the Kyiv budget of over UAH 2.1 million," the police said.

The defendant was reported under suspicion under Part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - official negligence that caused serious consequences.
