Trump and Putin to meet at Joint Base Elmendorf–Richardson in Anchorage

US President Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin will meet at the Joint Base Elmendorf–Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska, CNN has reported.

As the publication notes, the United States faced the problem of the peak tourist season in Alaska. That is why the options available and equipped to host the two world leaders were severely limited.

It is reported that the organizers of the meeting came to the conclusion that the only city in Alaska with viable options for the summit would be Anchorage.

"And only the base, located on the northern outskirts of the city, would meet the requirements for the historic meeting, although the White House hoped to avoid the optics of placing the Russian leader and his entourage at a US military base," the publication writes, citing sources in the White House.

As reported, Trump intends to focus on ending the war in Ukraine at his meeting with Putin in Anchorage, Alaska, on Friday, August 15. Other topics are not a priority, White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitt said on Tuesday.
