Zelenskyy in London plans visit with PM Starmer today - media

The meeting of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Sir Keir Starmer, will take place on Thursday morning in London, where the Ukrainian head of state is on a visit, the BBC has reported.

"This morning's high-level meeting between the leaders of the UK and Ukraine at 10 Downing Street will be a carefully coordinated show of support from the UK, scheduled just 24 hours before the summit in Alaska," the report says.

The publication emphasizes that this will be "the last push to ensure that European demands are heard before Donald Trump meets Vladimir Putin to discuss ending the war in Ukraine."

It is noted that after a conversation on Wednesday with other European leaders, Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump, Starmer said that Ukraine's territorial integrity must be protected and international borders should not be changed by force. He also said that "any ceasefire must be durable, and for this you need security guarantees," adding that this was the reason for the creation of the Coalition of the Willing, which has ready-made reliable military plans that could be used in the event of a ceasefire.

Starmer, on the eve of Friday's summit between Trump and Vladimir Putin, says that there is a "real chance" of a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, the publication notes.

As reported, on Wednesday, August 13, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Berlin. The leaders took part in a video conference with European leaders, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and US President Donald Trump. This was followed by a meeting of the "Coalition of the Willing," in which US Vice President J.D. Vance participated.
