Russia completely destroys SOCAR oil depot in Odesa region in Ukraine

A Russian drone strike on Monday completely destroyed the oil depot of Azerbaijani company SOCAR, with 15 drones launched at the facility, according to Serhiy Kuyun, Director of the A-95 consulting group.
"Overnight in [the Ukrainian city of] Odesa, Socar's oil depot was finally destroyed. It was first attacked last week… Today, the Baku team took 15 drones," Kuyun wrote on Facebook on Monday.
He noted that after the first strike, Azerbaijan issued a statement and, in particular, promised to consider supplying weapons if targeted attacks on Azerbaijani assets did not stop.
"I hope this means we'll have one more active ally," Kuyun added.
According to the Main Directorate of Ukraine's State Emergency Service (SES) in Odesa region, Russia once again carried out a massive drone attack on Odesa region, triggering a large-scale fire at a fuel and energy infrastructure facility. The SES clarified that, as of Monday morning, preliminary information indicated there were no deaths or injuries.
"More than 100 rescuers, volunteers, firefighters from Ukraine's National Guard, and local fire brigades eliminated the consequences of the enemy strike. A firefighting robot and Ukrzaliznytsia's fire train were also deployed," the Odesa SES reported.
As earlier reported, during the night of August 8, 2025, Russian forces struck SOCAR'S oil depot in Odesa region with five Shahed drones, igniting a fire and damaging a diesel fuel pipeline. Although the fire was quickly contained, four employees sustained serious injuries. On the night of August 6, 2025, Russia carried out a targeted strike on a compressor station of Ukraine's Gas Transmission System Operator (GTSOU) in Odesa region near the Ukrainian-Romanian border. The station secures a diversified supply route for natural gas into Ukraine.
Ukraine's Ministry of Energy noted that this compressor station is part of a route linking Greek LNG terminals with Ukrainian gas storage via the Trans-Balkan pipeline, along which LNG from the United States and test volumes of Azerbaijani gas have already been delivered.
At the time, the Energy Ministry said that Russia's strike was aimed solely at civilian infrastructure – deliberately targeting Ukraine's energy sector, as well as relations with Azerbaijan, the United States, and European partners.
