Ukrainian Deputy PM for Reconstruction promises second front-line support package in Sept

The launch of the program to support frontline territories will take place on September 1, and a second package of assistance measures will also be presented, said Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction of Ukraine, Minister of Communities and Territory Development Oleksiy Kuleba.

"As for the direct launch of the program, the relevant services will begin operating from September 1. There are services that are already operating, and they will simply be strengthened or extended to all 238 frontline communities. We plan to present the second package of support in September. It will concern issues of reconstruction, economic activity, and social support," he said during the presentation of the draft Government Action Program in Kyiv on Monday.

According to the minister, preferences for frontline territories and the terms of support programs should be enshrined in law. The relevant draft law is being discussed.

According to the Government Action Program, the restoration of regions and support for frontline communities is one of the priorities of the Ministry of Development. The main areas of work are the comprehensive restoration of settlements, energy-efficient restoration of housing, compensation for housing to owners from temporarily occupied territories, the creation of a special regime and comprehensive support for frontline communities.

Kuleba emphasized the importance of the prompt restoration of communities suffering from enemy shelling.

"What does restoration mean today? The first week is work to eliminate the consequences of this shelling and it should be completed within a week or two, depending on the volume of this shelling. Further actions are to provide people with minimal measures to maintain life. That is, to repair housing, infrastructure. We are not talking about the construction of the Trump Building in Kharkiv. Not yet. But we must support the people who remained in Kharkiv, people who work in other communities on the front line," Kuleba said.
