Govt plans to expand MFA’s powers to coordinate sanctions policy - draft govt action program
The government plans to expand the powers of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to coordinate sanctions policy by the end of 2025, according to a draft government action program published on Monday.
"By December 31, 2025, amendments to legislation will be adopted that expand the powers of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to coordinate sanctions policy," the achievement criteria for 2025 say.
Also, by the end of this year, it is planned to introduce new special economic and other restrictive measures and accelerate synchronization with the sanctions packages of key partners in Russia's aggression.
In addition, it is expected that new decisions will be adopted by the UN General Assembly, the governing bodies of UN agencies and other international organizations aimed at countering Russian aggression and overcoming the negative consequences it has caused for Ukraine.
By the end of 2026, it is planned to launch regular updates of sanctions as part of synchronization with partners.
