Russia launches 280-drone swarm, 44 break through defenses – Air force
On the night of August 19 (from 20:00 on August 18), Russia attacked with 280 air attack vehicles, air defense shot down/suppressed 236 air targets, four missiles and 40 UAVs were recorded hitting 16 locations, and downed objects (fragments) fell at three locations, the Air Force Command reported.
As noted in the message on the Telegram channel, the enemy attacked with 270 Shahed attack UAVs and simulator drones of various types from the directions of Kursk, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Russia, five Iskander-M ballistic missiles from Rostov, Voronezh regions - Russia, temporarily occupied Crimea and five Kh-101 cruise missiles from strategic aviation aircraft over the Caspian Sea.
The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
"According to preliminary data, as of 09:00, air defense systems shot down/suppressed 236 air targets: 230 enemy Shahed UAVs and simulator drones of various types, two 2 Iskander-M ballistic missiles and four Kh-101 cruise missiles. Hits of four missiles and 40 UAVs were recorded at 16 locations, and the fall of downed (fragments) at three locations," the Air Force said.
