Russia has struck the oil refining and gas infrastructure of the Poltava region, the Ministry of Energy reported.
"On the night of August 19, 2025, the Russian occupation forces carried out another massive attack on the energy infrastructure facilities of the Poltava region, using both cruise missiles and attack drones. As a result of the attack, large-scale fires broke out," the Ministry of Energy said on Telegram on Tuesday.
It notes that the last strikes on the oil refining infrastructure were recorded on June 15 and 21 of this year.
According to the Ministry of Energy, several dozen drones simultaneously attacked one of the production facilities of the gas transportation system of Ukraine.
"Damage to the ground infrastructure of the facility has been preliminarily established. Specialists are already conducting a technical inspection of the equipment and assessing the extent of the damage," the ministry said.
It stressed that the Russian Federation continues systematic terrorist attacks against the energy infrastructure of Ukraine, which is a direct violation of international humanitarian law.
"Since March 2025, more than 2,900 attacks have been carried out on energy infrastructure. The Ministry of Energy calls on the international community to increase sanctions pressure on the aggressor state and provide Ukraine with additional support to protect critical infrastructure facilities," the message says.

According to him, administrative buildings of local energy sector enterprises were damaged, 1,471 residential and 119 legal subscribers were left without electricity in the Lubny district. There were no casualties.
In June of this year, the issue was about the lost capacity of one of the Ukrainian refineries due to strikes by Russian aggressors, which supplied approximately 25-33% of gasoline and up to 10% of diesel to the Ukrainian market.
