The High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) has found the former head of the structural unit of the police of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Chernivtsi region guilty of incitement to bribery and sentenced him to seven years in prison.

"On August 19, 2025, the panel of judges of the HACC announced the verdict against the former head of the structural unit of the police of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Chernivtsi region," the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) said on Telegram on Tuesday.

According to the prosecutor's office, the official was found guilty of inciting a citizen to provide EUR 40,000 of illegal benefit for an alleged agreement with the deputy head of the Investigation Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Chernivtsi region not to bring her to criminal responsibility and to appropriate these funds.

"The court verdict found the former National Police official guilty of committing crimes under Part 4 of Article 27, Part 2 of Article 15, Part 3 of Article 369, Part 4 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and imposed a final sentence of seven years of imprisonment with confiscation of all property owned by him," the SAPO noted.

The court upheld the previously applied preventive measure - bail in the amount of UAH 2 million. Also, until the verdict enters into force, the following procedural obligations were imposed on the person: not to leave the Chernivtsi district of the Chernivtsi region without the permission of the court; to surrender to the authorized state authority passports of a citizen of Ukraine for traveling abroad and/or another document that gives the right to travel abroad; to wear an electronic means of control.

The court's verdict enters into force thirty days from the date of its pronouncement, unless it is appealed.
