Russia attacks power and gas transmission facilities in 6 regions
On the night of August 27, the Russians attacked energy and gas transportation infrastructure facilities in six regions of Ukraine with drones – Sumy, Poltava, Donetsk, Chernihiv, Kharkiv and Zaporizhia, the Ministry of Energy has said.
"On the night of August 26-27, the enemy carried out another massive terrorist attack using drones on the civilian infrastructure of Ukraine. Targeted destructive strikes were carried out on energy and gas transportation system facilities in six regions of Ukraine, in particular in Sumy, Poltava, Donetsk, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Zaporizhia regions," the Ministry of Energy said on Telegram on Wednesday.
An assessment of the damage is currently underway, and emergency and rescue services are working at the site of the hits.
At approximately one in the morning, an UAV strike damaged equipment at one of the key substations in Sumy, as a result of which a significant part of the city and industrial consumers were left without electricity, the ministry said.
In addition, in particular, in Poltava region, the enemy carried out a targeted, comprehensive attack on gas transportation infrastructure facilities, causing significant damage.
The Ministry of Energy noted that energy and gas workers are making efforts to restore energy and gas supplies as soon as possible.
"We view the Russian attacks as a continuation of the Russian Federation's deliberate policy of destroying Ukraine's civilian infrastructure on the eve of the heating season. This is another act of energy terror directed against civilians," the Ministry said.
As reported, yesterday the Russian Federation struck a DTEK mine and enrichment plant in Donetsk region, killing a worker. Nearly 150 more miners had to be lifted to the surface in emergency mode due to the mine being powerless as a result of the attack.
