In Zaporizhia region, 24 underground schools should be operational by the end of the year, Zaporizhia Regional Military Administration Oleksandr Kovalenko has said.
"In total, 300 educational institutions will start operating, of which about 190 will be in a mixed format," Kovalenko said during a national telethon on Thursday.
He also said that eight underground schools are already operating in the region, and seven more such schools are planned to be launched during September.
"In total, 24 schools should be built by the end of the year. Thus, we will cover about 60 thousand schoolchildren with general secondary education," the spokesman added.
According to him, this year more than 5,000 schoolchildren will start first grade in the region.
