Russians blackmailed Parubiy murder suspect with info about missing son in war – media

For a year, Russian special services blackmailed the suspect in the murder of the people's deputy of the European Solidarity faction Andriy Parubiy with information about the whereabouts of his son, who is considered missing in action during the war, the Pryamiy TV channel reports, citing its own sources in law enforcement agencies.
"It is known that the Russians have a whole list of people to be eliminated, especially in patriotic circles. Andriy Parubiy was one of a whole list of Ukrainian patriots who were planned to be killed in the near future," the channel's Facebook page said on Monday.
According to sources, the suspect was captured by the criminal investigation officers of the National Police of Ukraine. "Currently, the killer is giving evidence that clearly points to a Russian trace in this crime. Overall, this may indicate the failure of the authorities' measures to counter terrorism," the report notes.
The Interfax-Ukraine agency has not yet confirmed or denied this information.
As reported, the People's Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of the VI-IX convocations, the Speaker of the Parliament in 2016-2019, Parubiy, was shot dead on the street in Lviv at noon on August 30. An unknown man fired several shots at the politician, as a result of which he died on the spot.
