Detained Lviv resident charged with murder of Parubiy - PGO

The detained 52-year-old man has been reported on suspicion of murdering the People's Deputy, former Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy, the Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) has said.

"The detained 52-year-old Lviv resident has been reported on suspicion of murdering the People's Deputy of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy," the Prosecutor General's Office said on Telegram on Monday.

According to the PGO, the head of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office personally signed the report on suspicion in this case.

"According to him, "the suspicion is based on objective evidence indicating that the detained person committed the murder of a people's deputy," the PGO said.

His actions were qualified under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, namely: under Part 1 of Article 115 (intentional murder) and Part 1 of Article 263 (illegal handling of weapons).

"Currently, investigative actions are ongoing with the suspect. Searches are underway at his places of residence and stay," the department specified.

All urgent investigative actions are being carried out with the participation of prosecutors, who coordinate the investigation.

According to the prosecutor's office, a petition is being prepared to the court to appoint a preventive measure for the suspect in the form of detention without the possibility of posting bail.
