The volume of Indian diesel fuel on the domestic market does not exceed 10% despite the exaggerated estimates currently circulating in society, said Serhiy Kuyun, director of the A-95 consulting company.

"There is a rumor about the supply of Indian diesel fuel. According to those posts, we are almost ‘drowning’ in it. In fact, as much as 10% of the market!" he wrote on Facebook.

According to Kuyun, a certain surge in the supply of the Indian product (up to 14%) was observed in July of this year. "Because in June, Kremenchuk refinery was completely destroyed… That's why the market ran to buy up what was there. And India was there. We don't bring it, international traders bring it to Turkey and Romania, we already buy what is there," he noted.

According to the director of A-95, during the July surge in demand for it, a certain batch of Indian diesel even reached enterprises subordinate to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, and the reason for this was the purchase of fuel by the state enterprise DOT according to Soviet standards. In particular, one of the DOT requirements for diesel is a flash point of 62 degrees, while in Europe this indicator is not standardized at all, but usually is 55 degrees.

Diesel fuel with a flash point of 62 degrees is produced for Ukraine by Polish Orlen, and was also produced by Kremenchuk refinery. "And it happened that when the plant was destroyed, there was nowhere to get ‘Soviet’ fuel. And here India appears with the necessary characteristics! Even more than 62, everything as the Ministry of Defense and the DOT like! This is needed for ship fuel, and we have a lot of ships," Kuyun explained.

He noted that India, like Slovakia, Hungary and Turkey, are countries that import Russian raw materials and petroleum products. At the same time, they import products from other directions, and all certificates for diesel fuel when imported into Ukraine have a separate note "Not produced from Russian oil."

"We are an integral part of the European energy market and we buy what Europe buys. We cannot buy anything else because we do not have our own seaports," the expert added.

In his opinion, the West, in order to increase pressure on the Russian Federation, needs to move from words to deeds, namely, to start monitoring the implementation of its own sanctions, and not threaten new ones, which will not work again without monitoring.

"We need to physically slow down the ‘shadow’ fleet that travels the European seas without insurance, technical inspections, etc.," the director of A-95 emphasized.
