Ukraine intelligence adds 100+ foreign weapon components to database
The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense has replenished the database with 111 foreign components used in the production of drones and missiles that the Russian Federation uses in attacks on Ukraine; among them are components manufactured in the USA, China, Taiwan, Japan, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany and South Africa.
"The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine in the Components in Weapons section of the War&Sanctions portal publishes information on more than 100 foreign components identified by experts from Ukrainian research institutions in drones and missiles that the Russian Federation uses against Ukraine," the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine said in a message on its Telegram channel on Tuesday.
It is reported that among the published samples: two Russian-made Geran-2 strike UAVs of the Y series, the multi-purpose Korsar UAV, and the Kh-69 cruise missile.
"In order to continue and intensify terror against the population of Ukraine, the Russian Federation continues to modernize its main means of destruction, in particular the Geran-2 (Shahed-136) UAV. In some cases, modernization is taking place with the participation of Iran. In particular, the use of such UAVs with an Iranian-made thermobaric warhead has been recorded," the GUR report says. .
Earlier, the GUR reported on the new Shahed MS series, probably of Iranian production, which used the Nvidia Jetson Orin minicomputer, specialized for AI and video processing tasks. Russia also uses such computers in the V2U strike UAV. In addition to the Iranian one, the Russian Federation also installs its own warheads with a cumulative impact core on the new Shaheds to penetrate protected shelters. In both cases, target contact sensors are used to initiate the explosion.
The GUR notes that in some UAVs, the use of warheads with elements of destruction in the form of metal bullets and the possibility of non-contact detonation based on signals from an optical sensor (laser rangefinder, lidar) at a certain distance to the target was recorded. In this case, the SF20 laser rangefinder of the South African company LightWare was used.
In August, the use of the Geran-2 type UAV with a payload on external suspensions under the wings was also recorded.
We will remind, earlier the GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine published information about hundreds of units of foreign technological equipment used by the largest Russian manufacturer of tanks and armored vehicles, Uralvagonzavod.
