Ukrainian Defence Minister Denys Shmyhal, with the organisational support of UK Defence Secretary John Healey, took part in a meeting of the E5 countries – Great Britain, Poland, Germany, France and Italy – in London and discussed a number of security issues with them.

"In London, I took part in a meeting of the E5 countries: Great Britain, Poland, Germany, France and Italy. These are the countries with the largest defense budgets in Europe and important security partners of Ukraine," he wrote on Telegram on Wednesday.

According to him, air defense, joint production of weapons, long-range capabilities are the tasks that the President of Ukraine set and which are being discussed at all international venues.

"Thank you to the UK Secretary of Defense John Healey for organizing the meeting. I also thank the Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto for his participation in the meeting and important assistance. I am grateful to the E5 countries for productive negotiations and consistent support for Ukraine," Shmyhal noted.

As reported, the 30th meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine's Defense (Ramstein) was held in London the day before, on September 9. It was held in a hybrid format. British Defense Minister John Healey, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and Shmyhal were present in London. Other participants joined the meeting online.
