Govt allocates land for construction of Rheinmetall plant for manufacturing shells for AFU – Shmyhal

Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal reported that during a meeting with the head of the German Rheinmetall AG, Armin Papperger, on the sidelines of the international arms exhibition Defence Security and Equipment International Exhibition and Conference (DSEI) in London, the procedure for launching a new joint venture was finalized.

“Since our last conversation, we have finalized the procedures for launching a new joint production. On September 9, land was allocated in a safe region of Ukraine, where a new plant will be built to manufacture Rheinmetall shells for the needs of the Defense Forces.

We also discussed other important projects, in particular the development of repair and production capacities for armored vehicles. Rheinmetall’s product line includes several new models that can strengthen Ukraine’s Defense Forces,” Shmyhal said on the X platform on Thursday. In addition, the interlocutors discussed the air defense direction.

As reported, Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal, as part of the international arms exhibition DSEI, held in London from September 9 to 12, carried out a series of meetings with representatives of leading defense companies, in particular, manufacturers of Gepard and NASAMS air defense systems, HIMARS, ATACMS missiles and F-16 aircraft, as well as ASRAAM and Storm Shadow missiles.
