Categories for business, state sector to be opened in Register of Damage by year end – Svyrydenko
By the end of the year, categories for business and the state sector will be opened in the Register of Damage caused by Russia's aggression against Ukraine, Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko said.
"People are waiting not for papers, but for real payments. We are working for this. We plan: to open several new categories of applications in Diia in the coming weeks; by the end of the year - to open categories for business and the state sector," the government press service quotes Svyrydenko as saying following an online meeting with the management of the Register of Damage of Ukraine.
It is noted that the parties discussed that for the effective operation of the system, a separate international compensation fund is needed, and its replenishment can be carried out both at the expense of frozen Russian assets and from part of the revenues from the export of Russian oil and gas.
"It is expected that in December in The Hague, during the Diplomatic Conference, the Convention on the Establishment of the International Claims Commission for Ukraine will be signed. This will pave the way for the launch of a real mechanism for payments to victims. Together with partners, we are actively working to ensure that new participating states join the practical implementation of the mechanism. Ukraine, together with international partners, is actively working to ensure that new participating states join the implementation of the mechanism," the Prime Minister added.
As reported, on September 11, the Cabinet of Ministers expanded the number of categories of claims to the Register of Damage Caused by Russia's Aggression against Ukraine. In particular, it will soon be possible to file a claim not only for the death and disappearance of loved ones, harm to health or lost property, but also for forced departures abroad, deportation of children and adults, loss of housing, work or own business.
