Nearly 480 household owners receive microgrants from Ukrainian Red Cross Society

Nearly 480 household owners have received microgrants from the Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) to develop or restore their own businesses.

"The Ukrainian Red Cross Society continues to support people striving to rebuild their lives and secure a stable income. As part of the 'Restart: Expanding Employment Opportunities' program, 478 household owners have already received UAH 47.8 million in microgrants to implement their own business plans," the Communications and Marketing Department of the National Committee of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society said in a statement on Wednesday.

The program's participants include people affected by the war – particularly those who lost their jobs, homes, or businesses as a result of hostilities.

Selection of participants took place in two stages. The first round of the competition concluded in July this year and covered eight regions and the city of Kyiv. The second round was conducted in Vinnytsia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kirovohrad, Lviv, Mykolaiv, Poltava, Ternopil, Cherkasy, and Khmelnytsky regions, as well as Kyiv.

The supported businesses operate in a wide range of sectors, including: repair services and workshops, the beauty industry (hair salons, cosmetology and manicure services), food service (cafés and bakeries), manufacturing and retail (plumbing, construction, and children's goods), educational services and childcare, and livestock farming, beekeeping, and crop cultivation.

The "Restart" program is implemented by the Ukrainian Red Cross Society with the support of the Spanish Red Cross, Danish Red Cross, and Swiss Red Cross.

Launched in 2024, the program aims to support micro-entrepreneurship among internally displaced persons (IDPs), veterans, their family members, and representatives of other vulnerable population groups.
