Zelenskyy: Putin phoned Trump to discuss Tomahawk remarks
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that Vladimir Putin called US President Donald Trump last week because of the American leader’s rhetoric about supplying long-range Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine.
"Yes, because of the Tomahawks, because of President Trump’s rhetoric about the Tomahawks," Zelenskyy said during a meeting with journalists, answering the question of whether Putin called Trump specifically because of the issue of supplying these missiles.
At the same time, the Ukrainian president noted that Trump does not want escalation with Russia until he meets with them.
Also, according to him, it is obvious that Russia is afraid of the decision to supply Tomahawks to Ukraine.
"The relevant weapons are not only in the US, and if the US takes a step forward, the Russians understand that I will agree in Europe on the Tomahawks and other necessary weapons," Zelenskyy said.
