Zelenskyy and von der Leyen agree on additional contacts in coming days
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a conversation with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. Zelenskyy reported this on his Telegram channel on Tuesday.
"We discussed the importance of supporting Ukraine’s resilience and strengthening our positions at the negotiating table. We will do everything necessary to achieve this. We also agreed on further contacts in the coming days. And although the whole world is already looking ahead to Christmas, we do not stop working for a single day toward our shared goal – achieving peace and guaranteeing security," Zelenskyy wrote following the conversation.
He also expressed gratitude for the support and assistance provided throughout the entire period of the full-scale Russian invasion.
"Last week, the European Council adopted a decision on EUR 90 billion in financial assistance to Ukraine for 2026–2027, and this is extremely important for us. We highly value the fact that the European Union is supporting Ukraine in such a way at this, in many respects, decisive diplomatic moment. Negotiations are currently ongoing that can fundamentally alter the situation, and it is essential to ensure the right pressure on Russia for the sake of peace – joint pressure from all partners," the president stressed.
