U R the Universe directed by Ostrikov second highest-grossing Ukrainian film of 2025
The science fiction drama U R the Universe directed by Pavlo Ostrikov has collected UAH 53.4 million in five weekends and has become the second highest-grossing Ukrainian film of 2025, the State Film Agency reports.
"The science fiction drama U R the Universe directed by Pavlo Ostrikov confidently holds high positions in the Ukrainian film distribution and continues to attract the attention of viewers. Over five weekends, the film has collected UAH 53.4 million, and the total number of viewers reached 290,425. The film has now become the second highest-grossing Ukrainian film of 2025, second only to the film Antarctica, the Agency reports.
It is noted that the film was created with the support of the State Film Agency of Ukraine by the ForeFilms company in international cooperation with Belgium.
"At the center of the story is the Ukrainian space trucker Andriy, who after the Earth’s catastrophe becomes the last man in the Universe. But unexpectedly he finds a connection with the Frenchwoman Catherine, who needs help," the message says.
As reported, the winner of the 8th National Film Critics Award Kinokolo in 2025 in the category "Best Full-length Feature Film" was the U R the Universe. The film received awards in the following nominations: "Best Full-length Feature Film," "Discovery of the Year" (director Pavel Ostrikov), "Best Actor" (Volodymyr Kravchuk), "Best Screenplay" (screenwriter Pavel Ostrikov).
In addition, U R the Universe won the main award Jury Award/International Films: Best Film at the largest science fiction festival in Central Europe, the 12th Future Gate Sci-Fi Film Festival in the Czech Republic.
