Sybiha discusses with Cypriot counterpart advancement of Ukraine's accession to EU
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha has held a telephone conversation with his Cypriot counterpart Konstantinos Kombos to congratulate Cyprus on the start of its presidency of the Council of the European Union.
" We focused on advancing Ukraine’s EU accession, deepening bilateral cooperation, strengthening defense cooperation, and enhancing Ukraine’s energy resilience," he said on X.
The ministers also exchanged views on joint peace efforts and their coordination during the Cypriot presidency of the EU.
" I informed my colleague about the battlefield situation and the consequences of Russia’s air terror," Sybiha said.
He stressed that Ukraine and Cyprus will continue to work together to achieve common goals - "with unity, strength and a shared vision." As reported, from January 1, 2026, Cyprus begins its six-month presidency of the Council of the European Union.
