Ukrainian MP and leader of the European Solidarity party, Petro Poroshenko, who is participating in a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Interparliamentary Council in Brussels, emphasized during his speech that the Ukrainian Armed Forces currently serve as the backbone of transatlantic security, according to a report posted on the party's website on Monday.

"By supporting Ukraine, everyone now understands that you're not just helping us, you're investing in your own security, strengthening it, and defending Ukraine is defending Europe," Poroshenko said, addressing NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and all allies.

"If NATO is a platform for European and transatlantic security, then Ukraine is its pillar. NATO remains the strongest and most reliable guarantor of security that exists. I am skeptical that we currently have other security guarantees, which we have been discussing since 2024. But security guarantees are only a transitional period to Ukraine's full membership," the politician noted.

Poroshenko expressed conviction that the Ukrainian Armed Forces "can be the largest, most professional, most reliable European armed forces, and this is a truth that every European nation will ultimately support."
