Sweden contributing $100 mln to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities
Sweden will allocate $100 million for military assistance to Ukraine, the Swedish Defense Ministry has said on Friday.
"Sweden is contributing USD 100 million to the US support package Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List (PURL). Together with the Netherlands, Norway and the United Kingdom, Sweden will fund a joint support package totalling USD 500 million aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s defence capabilities," the Swedish Defense Ministry said on the website.
It states that "air defense and ammunition are of crucial importance."
The PURL initiative was announced on July 14 by U.S. President Donald Trump and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. It is intended for the purchase of U.S.-made weapons, including air defense systems, ammunition and spare parts.
