Ukrainian president, Portuguese foreign minister discuss cooperation, agree on deeper political dialogue
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal Augusto Santos Silva to discuss steps to deepen the political dialogue between their countries and mutually beneficial cooperation in various spheres, the Ukrainian president's official website reported on Monday.
"The two agreed on the expediency of intensifying bilateral trade and economic cooperation, primarily in high technology," the report said.
Poroshenko thanked the Portuguese side for supporting Ukraine's sovereignty, territorial integrity and European aspirations and noted the importance of strengthening anti-Russian sanctions in the event the Russian side continues the violation of the Minsk peace accords.
The Ukrainian president accepted an official invitation conveyed by Silva on behalf of Portugal's president to visit that country by the end of this year.
