Fire at Volgograd oil refinery caused by SBU drone attack
A fire broke out at one of Russia's major oil refineries in Volgograd as a result of a successful drone attack organized by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), an informed source told Interfax-Ukraine.
Our sources said that two drones hit a primary oil refining unit without which the facility would sustain a significant production capacity loss.
"The SBU proceeds with systemic destruction of the infrastructure used by Russia to wage the war against Ukraine. By hitting oil refineries, which work for the Russian military and industrial complex, we not only interrupt the fuel supply logistics for the enemy equipment but also cut the replenishment of Russia's budget. There will be more 'bavovna' at Russian oil refineries," the sources said.
As reported, in late January, an SBU drone attacked a maritime terminal in Russia's Ust-Lug and the oil refinery in Tuapse. According to Reuters, these attacks have cut Russia's export of petroleum products by almost one third.
