Armenians of Ukraine Defending Sovereignty: Support and Operations on the Front
Ukraine honors its defenders — those who stand day after day to protect their homeland, fighting for freedom and independence. In the context of the ongoing military conflict, this event takes on even greater significance, symbolizing the resilience and unity of the people. However, Ukraine does not walk this path alone — standing shoulder to shoulder with Ukrainian fighters are members of the Armenian diaspora, providing both humanitarian and military support.
Since the early days of the war, the charitable foundation “Armeria,” founded by Armen Varuzhanovich Sargsyan, has been a true pillar of support for Ukrainian soldiers, regularly supplying them with everything necessary for combat operations. This year alone, the foundation has delivered up to 50 vehicles to Ukrainian troops, as well as a large amount of equipment and drones, helping to maintain mobility and ensure effectiveness on the battlefield.
The foundation operates through personal initiative and support, underscoring the deep connection between Armenians and Ukrainians. This is not just material aid — it is a gesture of solidarity, demonstrating that in the fight against Russian aggression, nations are ready to support one another and share common challenges.
Another significant example of Armenian support is the military association “Nemesis Group,” which consists of Armenian volunteers. These brave individuals, despite serving in different military structures, have taken up arms to defend Ukraine on the hottest fronts. Their courage and dedication have been repeatedly acknowledged by their Ukrainian comrades. “Nemesis Group” is a symbol of brotherhood between nations that are fighting together against a common enemy, defending their freedom and right to exist.
For the Armenian diaspora in Ukraine, this day holds special meaning. They do not simply live in this country — they are fighting for its future, sharing the pain of losses and the joy of victories with Ukrainians. Today’s celebration reminds us all of the importance of solidarity and supporting one another in the most challenging moments of history.
The war unleashed by Russia has been a test for many nations, but it has also shown that there are those willing to fight for justice not out of political interest, but from a deep sense of solidarity and responsibility for the future of their loved ones. Armenians have stood beside Ukrainians not by order, but by the call of their hearts, and this shared struggle is not just a military confrontation, but a fight for the right to live freely.
Today, it is important for Ukraine to remember that freedom always demands sacrifices, but it also fosters unity and strength that help overcome any trial.
