During the opening ceremony of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, the flag of Ukraine will be carried by tennis player Elina Svitolina, Suspilne reported with reference to her.
At the last Games in Tokyo in 2020, the athlete received a bronze medal, becoming the first to bring Ukraine a medal in this sport.
Svitolina will become the third woman to act as a flag bearer in the history of performances in Ukraine. Earlier, the flag of Ukraine was carried by swimmer Yana Klochkova and shooter Olena Kostevych.
It is not yet known whether the tennis player will carry the flag alone or in a pair with someone.
The opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris will take place on Friday, July 26.
