President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, Minister of Youth and Sports Vadym Gutzeit allows for Russia to be returned to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) if it excludes the Olympic councils of the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine from the Russian Olympic Committee.

"As far as I understand, yes. If they do this, if they start living and working according to the rules, the way the whole world and international sports diplomacy works, the way the International Olympic Committee works. If they change this, they will not violate the Charter of the International Olympic Committee, then as I understand it, this suspension will be lifted," Gutzeit said on the national telethon on Friday, answering the question whether this suspension of membership is valid until the Russian Federation will not exclude the Olympic councils of the occupied territories from the Russian Olympic Committee.

As reported, on October 12, the International Olympic Committee stripped the powers of the Russian Olympic Committee due to a unilateral decision to include regional sports organizations under the jurisdiction of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Ukraine (namely Donetsk, Kherson, Luhansk and Zaporizhia).
