Ukraine has significantly improved its position in global digital governance rankings
Ukraine has significantly improved its position in the global digital governance rankings, as evidenced by the results of a new UN study ‘UN e-Governance Survey - Accelerating Digital Transformation for Sustainable Development’.
Thus, in 2024, Ukraine is the first in the E-Participation Index (EPART) ranking, up 56 positions from 2022; thirtieth in the E-Government Development Index (EGDI) ranking, up 16 positions from 2022.
Such significant progress in Ukraine's digitalisation would not have been possible without the proactive work of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine and the systematic support of international partners.
Victor Liakh, President of East Europe Foundation, commenting on these achievements at a conference in Kyiv, said: ‘East Europe Foundation was one of the first to start working systematically in the field of digital transformation of Ukraine. Thus, under the EGAP Programme, which began in 2015 and is funded by Switzerland, we are involved in the development of the Diia portal and application, more than 60 electronic services and the national e-participation platform E-DEM, and many other initiatives.’
East Europe Foundation's portfolio includes other digital development programmes supported by GIZ Ukraine, Visa, Google.org, USAID Ukraine, UK Dev.
‘Ukraine has every chance to become not only the ‘digital tiger of Europe’, but also of the world. However, the place in the rankings is not important. First and foremost, we care about the convenience and accessibility of public services for citizens, the ability of people to influence decision-making by the authorities, as well as the transparency and accountability of public administration, which is ensured by digitalisation,’ Victor Liakh is convinced.
