Italy to send SAMP/T system to Ukraine before end of month
Italy will send a SAMP/T anti-aircraft system to Ukraine by the end of September, RaiNews reported citing a statement by Italian Defense Minister Guido Crozetto.
"The new SAMP/T system will be delivered to Ukraine by the end of this month, and we are aware of the cost of every minute of delay," the publication quoted the minister as saying at the conference on European trade in air and missile defense.
As reported earlier, France and Italy have already transferred SAMP/T to Ukraine in June 2023.
In June 2024, Italy announced a package containing a SAMP/T system for Ukraine's air defense.
SAMP/T can destroy enemy aircraft at a range of 3 to 100 kilometers and ballistic missiles at a range of 3 to 25 kilometers, with a destruction altitude of up to 25 kilometers. All eight Aster-30 missiles on one launcher can be fired in a single salvo in 10 seconds.
