Ukraine's Kormotech aims to generate 15% of its own electricity by 2027

As part of its development strategy, leading Ukrainian pet food manufacturer Kormotech is committed to using renewable energy and plans to generate up to 15% of its own electricity by 2027, according to Kormotech Chief Operating Officer (COO) Ihor Paraniak in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

"Our strategy includes steps toward adopting green energy. We have already implemented a 630 kW solar power plant at our first Lithuanian facility. At the new plant in Kedainiai (Lithuania), we plan to install rooftop solar panels, utilizing the large available space of nearly 17,000 square meters. This will be a separate project, [not part of the EBRD-backed initiative] but we expect that by 2027, we will generate 15% of our own electricity," Paraniak said.

As reported, Kormotech has invested EUR 60 million in the construction of the new wet pet food plant in Lithuania, with EUR 40 million financed by the EBRD. The plant's planned capacity is 40,000 tonnes, and it will create 200 jobs. The first phase is set to launch in the second quarter of 2026, with all four phases to be completed by 2028.

Kormotech is a global family company with Ukrainian roots, which has been producing cat and dog food under the Optimeal, Club 4 Paws, Gav!, Miaow! brands since 2003. The company has production capacities in Ukraine and the EU, with an assortment of more than 650 items.

Kormotech is a leader in Ukraine, included in the top 50 world producers of animal food and the top 20 most dynamic pet food brands. It sells its own brands and partners' labels in 46 countries.
