Over 4 bcm of gas needed for stable autumn-winter season – Naftogaz head
kraine will need additional gas imports of a little more than 4 billion cubic meters by the end of the 2025/2026 heating season for its sustainable passage, said Serhiy Koretsky, Board Chairman of NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy.
"To ensure a sustainable passage through the autumn-winter season, taking into account the domestic production losses, a little more than 4 billion cubic meters of gas is needed. Until the completion of the autumn-winter season," said Koretsky during a briefing at Ukrinform on Tuesday.
He added that Ukraine is considering several scenarios for the development of events, "including continued Russian attacks and additional destruction, the possibility of using the underground gas storage (UGS) facilities fully or partially, and the level of domestic production."
He added that, accordingly, the company has set the goal of maintaining a regular schedule for additional gas imports, which continued in the summer and continues now.
"We are not stopping this process. We believe it is better to critically evaluate this process and be prepared for different scenarios," emphasized the head of Naftogaz.
As previously reported, Koretsky reported that on October 28, Russia launched the seventh attack on gas facilities this month, as a result of which production capacities in Poltava region were damaged.
