DTEK RES completes installation of Statcom at three of its stations while synchronizing power system of Ukraine with ENTSO-E
DTEK RES company has completed the process of additional configuration of reactive power compensation devices (Statcom) at its enterprises, designed to solve the issue of POD (power oscillation damping) in the integrated power system of Ukraine, which was one of the conditions for its synchronization with ENTSO- E.
As explained on the DTEK website, it was possible to ensure the fulfillment of this condition thanks to the additional activation of the POD function on Statcom installed at three DTEK Renewables power plants.
They indicated that this is the first experience for Ukraine, and DTEK RES employees received unique expertise in the installation and use of the latest equipment.
According to Oleksandr Selischev, General Director of DTEK Renewables, the company invested its own funds in the installation of innovative equipment.
He noted that in the future this will contribute to expanding the export capabilities of Ukraine in the ENTSO-E network by 730 MW (currently the 400 MW).
“An additional 730 MW is a great basis for increasing Ukraine’s export earnings, when it will be possible to sell such volumes of electricity,” Selischev emphasized.
The company added that on September 22, DTEK Renewables received approval for reports on activating the POD function on Statcom devices from Ukrenergo and ENTSO-E.
The release notes that in the process of activating the function, innovative software was also used, which was developed by DTEK Renewables specialists together with engineers from the manufacturing plants of this equipment.
They clarified that an earlier study of the influence of Statcom devices at the DTEK RES station was carried out by the Polish Institute of Power Engineering Gdansk Division and a positive impact on the possibility of increasing power exports was confirmed.
