IAEA Director General holds meeting in Kyiv at Energy Ministry before visiting Zaporizhia NPP
IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi began his 10th visit to Ukraine on his way to the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) with a meeting on Tuesday in Kyiv with Energy Minister Herman Haluschenko, head of the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine Oleh Korikov and head Energoatom Petro Kotin.
"Exchanging on our support to Ukraine's NPPs ahead of my ZNPP visit," Grossi wrote on the social media X, who visited the Kursk NPP in Russia last week before traveling to Ukraine.
So far, none of the Ukrainian representatives have commented on this meeting, which took place at the Ministry of Energy.
The IAEA head emphasized that the agency is fully committed to ensuring the safety of Ukraine's nuclear sites, being present at each of them.
Grossi noted that two years after the launch of the IAEA mission to Zaporizhia NPP, he is heading to the plant "to continue our assistance and help prevent a nuclear accident."
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said at a press conference in Zaporizhia the day before that he intends to meet with the IAEA Director General after he visits Zaporizhia NPP and will talk to him about returning the plant to Ukrainian control.
