Ukraine, Poland discuss specific technical steps to resolve exhumation issue – Sybiha
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha said during his visit to Poland, specific technical, not political steps were discussed in order to "finally resolve the exhumation issue."
"Of course, we did not bypass complex issues of bilateral relations, in particular sensitive topics of the past. Ukraine is ready to talk with Poland on all topics, because true friends can openly discuss everything with each other. And not only talk, but also solve problems. We discussed specific technical, not political steps, in order to finally resolve the exhumation issue, which has been poisoning our political dialogue for a long time," he said on Facebook.
The minister said there should be no political obstacles and noted that "there is understanding and a desire to move forward in a constructive direction."
"The past, no matter how difficult it may be, cannot jeopardize the current response to common challenges and the future in the Euro-Atlantic family. I am convinced that this is our common understanding with the Polish side," Sybiha said.
According to the department's head, it was a busy one-day visit to Poland. In particular, he held a "long, detailed and substantive" conversation with Polish President Andrzej Duda, with Marshals of the Sejm Szymon Gołownia and the Senate Malgorzawa Kidawa-Błonska, as well as a meeting with his Polish counterpart Radosław Sikorski.
"The focus of all conversations was countering Russian aggression, protecting our common freedom and security. The formula for peace and the Victory Plan. Military assistance. Support for energy and the economy, the stability of Ukraine on the eve of winter," he said.
