Croatian PM on possible territorial 'concessions' by Ukraine: This is worst signal for both intl law, relations
Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković spoke out against territorial concessions by Ukraine, supporting the Ukrainian position that this will not stop Russian aggression.
At a press conference on the sidelines of the Ukraine – South East Europe summit in Dubrovnik on Wednesday, he said if the negotiations are weak, then the results will be weak. If speak about strong negotiations, then the results will be good. He said they must be principled and mentioned the word "concession" which implies territorial losses. Today, this is the worst signal for both international law and international relations," the Croatian Prime Minister said.
According to Plenković, Croatia's experience also shows that weakness allows aggression to continue and intensify, while strength weakens aggression and stops it.
The prime minister said in order to surrender territory means to give a huge, big, green light to any powerful player with expansionist ambitions to carry out similar aggression anywhere in the world.
