Zelenskyy thanks EU leaders for approving up to EUR35 bln in financial aid to Ukraine

The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to the leadership of the European Union, as well as the leaders of EU countries for the final approval of the macro-financial assistance package for Ukraine.

"With the final adoption and entry into force of the EUR 35 billion Macro-Financial Assistance package, Ukraine takes a significant step toward resilience and recovery. My deepest thanks to European Council President Charles Michel, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, and all EU leaders for their unwavering support. Together, we stand strong for democracy and a free Ukraine," the president said on X.

As reported earlier, the EU Council has given final approval to a financial aid package for Ukraine, including an exceptional macro-financial assistance (MFA) loan of up to EUR 35 billion under the G7 Extraordinary Revenue Acceleration (ERA) initiative, which provides for the allocation of up to $50 billion, which will be repaid with proceeds from immobilized Russian assets.
