The Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) has launched a training program for rescuers of Kirovohrad region to provide first aid.

“A first aid training course has been launched for the personnel of fire and rescue units and employees of local fire brigades. The first classes were held in the Kropyvnytsky and Dobrovelychkivka divisions of the main directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Kirovohrad region,” the URCS reported on Facebook on Friday.

In Dobrovelychkivka, representatives of fire brigades from the settlements of Lypniazhka and Tyshkivka joined the training.

Participants in the training practiced the skills of providing first aid to injured people with injuries of varying severity, the technique of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and methods of stopping bleeding. The rescuers also learned a step-by-step algorithm of actions when providing assistance to people with spinal injuries and musculoskeletal system damage. The rescuers honed their first aid skills on a training manikin, which signals when erroneous actions are made. In addition, the URCS instructors analyzed the most common mistakes in providing first aid using specific examples.
