Presidential adviser reiterates absence of plans to lower mobilization age to 18 years

Ukraine is not preparing to lower the mobilization age from the current 25 years to 18 years old, Ukrainian presidential adviser Dmytro Lytvyn reiterated on the X social network.

"Nobody is preparing any mobilization of 18-year-olds," he wrote on Wednesday evening in response to a post about the advisability of taking 15-17 year olds abroad.

Earlier that day, U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that Ukraine would need to make difficult decisions on further mobilization of citizens to repel Russian aggression.

At the same time, the Secretary of State pointed out that Ukraine's partners have an obligation: every person, every soldier that Ukraine mobilizes must undergo training and receive the equipment necessary to effectively defend the country.

At the end of November, Lytvyn already stated that there was no point in lowering the mobilization age, since Ukraine was not receiving the promised weapons from its partners in a timely manner.
