Ukrnafta filling station slightly damaged in M06 highway blasts in Ukraine, continues operating normally
A Ukrnafta gas station sustained minor damage following powerful explosions in the village of Berezyna, Hlybochytsia community, located along the M06 international highway near the Ukrainian city of Zhytomyr. Despite what the company called a "horrific manmade incident," the station remains fully operational.
"A terrible manmade situation occurred in Berezyna, near Zhytomyr. Massive explosions destroyed homes and infrastructure facilities, including several filling stations along the M06 international highway, which ended up at the epicenter of the blast... One of our UKRNAFTA stations is located near the epicenter. It suffered minor damage but continues to operate as usual," the company stated on Facebook overnight Thursday.
Ukrnafta noted that road traffic in the area is disrupted and emergency services are actively responding on-site.
The company is offering free coffee at its station to all rescue workers, medics, police officers, local residents, and anyone affected by or involved in managing the aftermath of the incident.
"All we have in stock – is yours," the company wrote.
According to Vitaliy Bunechko, head of the Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration, the two explosions that occurred in Berezyna around 18:00 resulted in at least two fatalities and 15 injuries. Later, he updated the number of injured to 24, including four children.
Zhytomyroblenergo reported that the blasts damaged three 10kV power lines, leaving 735 households without electricity.
