Ex-soldier from Odesa caught planning attacks for enemy – SBU

The State Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has detained two more Russian military intelligence agents who were correcting enemy air attacks on Ukraine: a native of occupied Melitopol was detained in Kyiv, and a former military woman in Odesa.

The SBU said on Telegram on Monday that the suspects were supposed to identify and transfer to the occupiers the locations of the Defense Forces, and they also investigated the consequences of enemy "arrivals" over civilian infrastructure to correct repeated strikes on Ukrainian cities.

According to the Ukrainian special service, both agents acted separately, but had one common curator, whose identity has already been established by SBU cyber specialists. To collect intelligence, the suspects went to the area, photographed potential targets and recorded their coordinates.

"In Kyiv, a 31-year-old native of temporarily occupied Melitopol was detained, whom the Russian military "sent" to spy on the capital of Ukraine. According to the instructions of the Russian military intelligence, the agent was supposed to identify and transfer to the occupiers the locations of the repair bases of the military equipment of the Defense Forces," the report says.

In addition, as noted in the department, the attacker monitored the time intervals of the largest concentration of people near the recruiting centers of the Kyiv region, which the enemy planned to strike from the air.

"A former military woman was exposed in Odesa, who after being discharged from service began to cooperate with the Russian military intelligence agents. In exchange for money from the occupiers, the woman gave them the coordinates of the bases of the maritime guard units, border guards and the National Guard on the territory of the port city," the SBU informs.

However, as the investigation established, the agent never received the promised money from the Russian Federation.

SBU investigators informed both defendants of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law).

The perpetrators are in custody without bail.

The complex measures were carried out by SBU officers in Kyiv and Kyiv region under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
