URCS launches safety project for children

The Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) has launched a new project for children School Safety Sessions in three regions.

"With the beginning of the school year, the Ukrainian Red Cross Society team has launched a new project - School Safety Sessions. Its goal is to form a culture of safe behavior in schools and develop a responsible attitude to safety among children and youth," the URCS reported on Facebook.

The URCS's Disaster Risk Reduction Unit is implementing the project in partnership with the British Red Cross in Vinnytsia, Cherkasy, and Kirovohrad regions.

URCS specialists have already conducted the first interactive classes in schools. Students learned how to act correctly during an air raid, what to do in case of a fire, how to behave near water bodies, and why it is important to know the algorithms for action in emergency situations.

The Ukrainian Red Cross Society is convinced that safe behavior skills should be instilled from childhood. After all, the earlier children learn simple rules, the more confident they will feel in any circumstances.
