The Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) is improving crisis response mechanisms for emergency situations in cooperation with partners.

"With the support of the German Red Cross, the Ukrainian Red Cross Society delivered modern decontamination stations to Rivne, Odesa, and Zaporizhia regions. These areas face an elevated risk of technological and radiological hazards due to the presence of nuclear power plants and large industrial facilities," the URCS reported on Facebook on Saturday.

The first practical training on the deployment of the stations took place at the training ground of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service in Rivne region. The event was attended by representatives of the Civil Protection Unit of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society and volunteers of rapid response units from Kyiv, Rivne, Odesa and Zaporizhia.

During the training, the participants practiced decontamination, degassing and sanitizing equipment and victims.

This training improves teams' readiness to work in real conditions and strengthens the coordination between the Ukrainian Red Cross Society and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
