Russia damages or destroys almost 2,000 Sumyoblenergo facilities

As of October 13, almost 2,000 Sumyoblenergo facilities were damaged or destroyed as a result of the Russian Federation's military aggression.

"And this is only an approximate figure, which is growing every day. In addition, it is currently impossible to inspect grids in areas where active hostilities are underway," the company reported on its Telegram channel on Monday.

According to preliminary morning information from Sumyoblenergo, emergency outage schedules were introduced in Sumy region on October 13 at the direction of Ukrenergo. These schedules are currently in effect for four consumer queues.

The company recalled that these schedules are used in emergency cases when it is necessary to immediately reduce the amount of power consumed from the grid by three to 15 minutes. In such cases, it is impossible to predict the duration of the blackout since these schedules are implemented in the event of a large-scale emergency.

Hourly outage schedules, which are not currently in use in Sumy region, are used when a critical situation in Ukraine's unified energy system can be predicted.

"This is also an emergency mode of operation of the energy system, but with hourly outage schedules we can notify the population about the outage and predict its time. Therefore, the use of hourly outage schedules is a forced but controlled step in order to prevent emergency blackouts," the regional energy company explained.
