Presidents of Finland and Kazakhstan say of importance of achieving peace in Ukraine
Following Finnish President Alexander Stubb's official visit to Kazakhstan, he and his Kazakh counterpart, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, issued a joint statement in which, among other things, they declared the importance of achieving peace in Ukraine.
“The Parties emphasized the importance of achieving, as soon as possible, a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in Ukraine in accordance with the principles of the Charter of the United Nations,” a document published on the website of the President of Finland says.
Kazakhstan is reportedly considering supplying uranium to Finnish nuclear power plants, and the parties are ready to move to practical negotiations, said Almassadam Satkaliyev, head of the Kazakh Atomic Energy Agency.
"We are discussing the possibility of supplying Kazakh uranium to customers – Finnish nuclear power plants. This is the essence of the documents being signed today with our Finnish colleagues (...) We previously proposed this, and they expressed serious interest. This visit is a very good opportunity to conduct practical negotiations on the volumes and possibilities of such supplies," Satkaliyev told reporters during Finnish President Alexander Stubb's official visit to Astana.
