Zelenskyy: Ukraine receives additional Patriot missile defense systems

Ukraine has received additional Patriot missile defense systems financed by Germany. This was announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an evening video address on Sunday.

"Today we can already say that there is a good result for our air defense - Ukraine now has more "Patriots". I want to thank Chancellor Merz, thank Germany and everyone who helps: our agreements - they have been fulfilled. There are still Patriots in Ukraine, we are including them in the work. Of course, more systems are needed for the entire territory of our state to cover key infrastructure facilities, our cities, and we will continue to work to get this. And not only at the political level with states and leaders, but also with manufacturers of all the necessary air defense systems, missiles for them. There will be meetings on this next week, we have presented to our partners all the calculations, all possible options for how to ensure sufficiently reliable air defense," Zelenskyy said.

The President emphasized the need for a multi-component air defense system.

"And this is our military aviation, and there are solutions for this both for Gripens and for French aircraft, we are working on the F-16. Also air defense systems and missiles for them, the development of mobile fire groups and, of course, the priority now is interceptor drones. The number of interceptors for this year will be as determined by the state task. It is important that the Defense Forces, together with all the institutions involved, increase the number of trained drone operators - the corresponding system just as quickly and efficiently," Zelenskyy noted.
